David Beckham in Belstaff - Paris Street Style

David Beckham in Belstaff - Paris Street Style

David Beckham / DailyMail

David Beckham was pictured at Gare Du Nord station in Paris earlier today. The recently retired footie ace wore a Belstaff 'Kendal' leather biker jacket, over a black t-shirt and black trousers. If the biker jacket looked familiar, David wore the same jacket when he attended the opening of Belstaff House last Sunday. The jacket featured textured sheepskin from New Zealand with blistered-like grains, but with exceptionally soft touch. It is also announced that David Beckham will front Belstaff’s Spring/Summer 2014 global advertising campaign, which will be photographed by Peter Lindberg and inspired by the late great Belstaff aficionado Steve McQueen.

Needless to say, he looked absolutely gorgeous. Even his assistant with his garment carrier looked fabulous. The question is: which show(s) will he be attending during Paris Fashion Week? I say Louis Vuitton.

Justin Timberlake in Saint Laurent - "Runner Runner" Premiere, Las Vegas

00O00 Menswear Blog: Justin Timberlake in Saint Laurent - 'Runner Runner' Premiere, Las Vegas

Justin Timberlake attended the world premiere of Twentieth Century Fox and New Regency's film "Runner Runner" at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on September 18, 2013 in Las Vegas. The actor/singer wore a midnight blue smoking suit, white cotton bib front shirt and patent leather shoes, all from Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane. Love the contrast lapels on the jacket and buttoned up white shirt. I might suggest adding a cummerbund and buttoning up the jacket, but he did not wear that trilby/hat this time round so we should all be on our feet, applauding (like left picture). Scream a little if you want to.

Jared Leto in Balmain - Harper's Bazaar LFW Closing Party

00O00 Menswear Blog: Jared Leto in Balmain - Harper's Bazaar LFW Closing Party

Jared Leto / Source: PacificCoastNews.com | Balmain Fall Winter 2013

Jared Leto attended the Harper's Bazaar London Fashion Week SS14 closing party at Annabel's in London on Tuesday evening. The actor and frontman of "30 Seconds To Mars" wore a Balmain Homme oriental style tuxedo jacket with embroidered cuffs, over a black t-shirt, trousers and boots with matching red lining. Looking a little saintly with those blonde locks and stubble, I'm not exactly sure if I'm liking this holy and kungfu master mishmash. The jacket looked ill fitted too.

Mmmm not exactly sure. And Jared Leto is usually pretty spot on. What do you think?

Jamie Hince in Saint Laurent - AnOther magazine party, London

00O00 Menswear Blog: Kate Moss and Jamie Hince in Saint Laurent - AnOther magazine party, London Fashion Week September 2013

Kate Moss and Jamie Hince / Source: PacificCoastNews.com | Saint Laurent Fall Winter 2013

Kate Moss and Jamie Hince were seen leaving the AnOther Magazine 25th Issue 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' themed party at LouLou's club in London as part of London Fashion Week. Kate Moss wore a black jacket, stockings, red lips clutch bag and black leather bondage style cap (aka crazy love magicians outfit), while husband Jamie Hince from 'The Kills' wore a matching outfit consisting of a wool caban with gold buttons from Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane.

I love a good themed party. Love their hats, and though the wool coat might have been a little warm for London now, but I thought they looked great. I love coats with gold buttons, something regal and military about it. Looked like a fun party to me!

Nicky Wu [吴奇隆] in Alexander McQueen - [向着胜利前进] Photocall

00O00 blog Nicky Wu [吴奇隆] in Alexander McQueen - [向着胜利前进] Photocall
Taiwanese artiste Nicky Wu [吴奇隆] recently attended a promotional activity for his new work [向着胜利前进] for a TV station in Suzhou, China. The Taiwanese heart throb wore an Alexander McQueen stained glass print blazer, over a white shirt with matching collar also from Alexander McQueen, paired with black trousers (and presumably black shoes). The stained glass print was one of the prominent pieces from the collection, and in my opinion one that is difficult to pull off. Am surprised that Nicky chose to wear it with the matching shirt too. I thought he looked great, the blazer length was much more flattering on him, and his effort in the hair and subtle make-up department helped too. Good look on him I feel.

Harry Styles in Burberry - Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014

Harry Styles / Burberry | Burberry Fall Winter 2013

Harry Styles attended the Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 show in London earlier today as part of London Fashion Week. The 'One Direction' star wore a leopard print t-shirt from Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013, underneath a navy long coat. Not a lot of men can get away with hearts print shirts or leopard print motifs. Mr Harry Styles did it with ease, I think the trick is to keep it to one key item at a time. Of course a great smile and a gorgeous quiff help too.

Will you get on the leopard print trend?

Jonathan Saunders Spring Summer 2014

00O00 Menswear Blog: Jonathan Saunders Spring Summer 2014

Jonathan Saunders / Jonathan Saunders Spring Summer 2014

Jonathan Saunders presented his Spring Summer 2014 womenswear show in London as part of London Fashion Week. The designer wore a blue shirt with a contrast collar from his menswear SS2014 collection, over a t-shirt, khaki trousers and dare I say, skanky trainers! Oh Jonathan I love a well worn pair of Converse, but those really need a good clean! Jokes aside, that portfolio the model was holding is a special piece made with Smythson, the British company famous for their stationeries. Why carry a 'murse' when we can have a fully functional A4 sized document holder for our iPads and what nots? That's high on my wish list.

Also collaborating with Jonathan Saunders, is French shoe designer Christian Louboutin. I'm not normally one to advocate wearing women's shoes, but do we think the above shown at Jonathan Saunders Spring Summer 2014 would come in a size 43? Maybe sans the bow tie at the front?

David Beckham in Belstaff - Belstaff House Opening, London

00O00 Menswear Blog: David Beckham in Belstaff - Belstaff House Opening, London

David Beckham / PA, Daily Mail / Belstaff Fall Winter 2013

I left London for a few days, and what happened? David Beckham officiated the opening of Belstaff House on New Bond Street, that's what happened! Belstaff moved into the newly refurbished building at 135 - 137 New Bond Street, and a whole host of stars turned up for the opening as part of London Fashion Week. The event was celebrated with a motorbike parade down London’s home of luxury retail, New Bond Street, which had been closed to traffic for the occasion. David Beckham wore a Belstaff 'Kendal' leather biker jacket, over a white t-shirt and matching leather trousers for the event. The jacket featured textured sheepskin from New Zealand with blistered-like grains, but with exceptionally soft touch and feel. It is also announced that David Beckham will front Belstaff’s Spring/Summer 2014 global advertising campaign, which will be photographed by Peter Lindberg and inspired by the late great Belstaff aficionado Steve McQueen.

The director and main cast of 'Libertador' attended the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday in Toronto, Canada. Director Alberto Arvelo's 'Libertador' is the largest South American film production to date, and it illustrates the story of Simon Bolivar, a political and military hero who played an instrumental role in Latin America's independence from Spanish rule. Venezuelan actor Édgar Ramírez, who played the title role in the movie, along with the director and actress Juana Acosta attended the photocall at the Guess Portraits Studio to promote the biopic. Édgar wore a simple charcoal grey suit over a white t-shirt, and accessorised with a Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph.

Edgar kept it really simple. No necklace nor rings, and at times the portrait was so good that it could almost double as the watch campaign. It is a beautiful timepiece and I think it suited him really well. It is proof that a good watch is all you need at times.

Pelayo Diaz in McQ Alexander McQueen x MxM Maxime Büchi

00O00 Menswear Blog: Pelayo Diaz in McQ Alexander McQueen x MxM Maxime Büchi

Pelayo Diaz / Source: Katelovesme | McQ Alexander McQueen Fall Winter 2013

Came across this picture of popular blogger Pelayo Diaz, aka Price Pelayo, in the t-shirt from the McQ Alexander McQueen x MxM Maxime Büchi Fall Winter 2013 collaboration. The famed fashion house and the world renowned tattoo artist have come together to produce a loose drop-shoulder t-shirt and a fitted white shirt with a cut-away button down collar, both featuring traditional maritime iconography such as compasses and ships and reworked by the latter in his own unique handwriting. Love the t-shirt, I thought Pelayo looked really good in that whole styling.

MxM Maxime Büchi will also be designing an installation for the McQ Alexander McQueen London flagship store window at Dover Street, which will be unveiled this Thursday (12th Sept) with an instore party as part of London Fashion Week. There will be music and cocktails curated by the man himself from 5 - 8pm at 14 Dover Street. This man has some serious tattoos, go check him out!

Jack Purcell x Hudson’s Bay Company, Converse x Maison Martin Margiela

00O00 Menswear Blog: Jack Purcell x Hudson’s Bay Company, Converse x Maison Martin Margiela September 2013

Walked past Selfridges at London's Oxford Street today and I literally had to turn back to take this picture. An entire window near their main entrance is dedicated to the Jack Purcell x Hudson's Bay Company sneakers collaboration.

Now before I go any further: are all Jack Purcells Converse sneakers, but not all Converse sneakers are Jack Purcells? In the words of Zack Johnson (Big Bang Theory's Penny's hunky ex-boyfriend): "are all thumbs fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs?". I LOVE The Big Bang Theory, but let's not wander too far here. I really should Wikipedia stuff before I blog. Jack Purcell was a Canadian world champion badminton player, who designed the popular sneakers that we are all wearing today. Converse purchased the trademark in the 70s, so it is not wrong to address them as Converse Jack Purcell.

What about Chuck Taylor you ask. Chuck was a basketball player who worked for Converse in the 1920s and was credited for improving the design of the sneakers we all still love today. And those classics do not go out of style. Jack Purcell sneakers have a 'smiley' face at the front. Confusing yet?

So Canadian retailer Hudson's Bay Company collaborated with Converse Jack Purcell, originally a Canadian. And I saw the shoes in the window of Selfridges, also owned by Canadians. Nice link? The shoes are gorgeous, my picture probably doesn't do it justice. These are not the regular white sneakers painted with coloured stripes. The body was made with the iconic Hudson's Bay wool blanket which you can see from official pics below:

Ironically, I could not find the shoes online at Selfridges. You can however purchase them online at The Bay.

Also launching this September, are the Converse x Maison Martin Margiela sneakers. In signature Margiela style, the Jack Purcell and Chuck Taylor sneakers (you still following??) are all hand painted in Margiela's iconic white paint. Available in red, black, navy, and Margiela-exclusive vintage yellow, the white paint will peel off over time to reveal the base colour and achieve an artisanal effect.

Do you have a favourite yet? I love Converse, I love Margiela, I love Converse collabs, my favourite being the Missoni ones. But I cannot deal with the white paint peeling off on my wooden flooring. Personally, I love the low cut Jack Purcell x Hudson's Bay sneakers. What about you?

Pharrell Williams in Junya Watanabe - LAX Airport

00O00 Menswear Blog: Pharell Williams in Junya Watanabe patchwork coat - LAX Airport September 2013

Pharrell Williams / source: Cocoafab | Junya Watanabe Fall Winter 2013

Pharrell Williams was pictured at Los Angeles airport this week after attending a certain menswear event in London. Pharrell wore a sand coloured patchwork coat from Junya Watanabe, layered over a black polka dot waistcoat, long blue shirt, denim shorts and exotic looking sneakers. It all sounds so mish mash and ridiculous and should not work in theory, but I actually really love this look. Love the straw hat and gorgeous sunnies. The long blue chambray shirt and the short waistcoat was a nice play of contrast. It is an absurd coat but he made it work. I am stunned.

Nicolas Cage's Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Open Home Time - Premiere of 'Joe', 39th Deauville American Film Festival

00O00 Menswear Blog: Nicolas Cage wearing the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Open Home Time at the 39th Deauville American Film Festival

Nicolas Cage and his wife Alice Kim attended the premiere of the movie 'Joe' during the 39th Deauville American film festival on Monday evening. A little intrigued about the movie because of it's simplistic title, and also because it bears my name. The movie synopsis reads that Cage plays a man who runs a crew of 'tree poisoners' for a local lumber company, rendering healthy trees sick so they can be cut down. Cage plays the title role of Joe, who being the unlikeliest of role models, meets a 15-year-old troubled teenager and is faced with the choice of redemption or continual ruin.

Besides the similarity to my name, Nicolas also wore a 'Nicolas' watch for the red carpet premiere. Nicolas Cage was spotted with the 'Nicolas Rieussec Open Home Time' from Montblanc. The watch paid homage to French watchmaker Nicolas Rieussec to celebrate the 190th anniversary of the invention of the chronograph. The watch is a marvellous creation of great technicalities, which I would not pretend to comprehend. What I can, is to marvel at the gorgeous aesthetics. I posted pictures of the watch on Twitter and Instagram previously, this is definitely one #WishlistWednesday worthy timepiece.

A little note about the 'Home Time': the timepiece has a small red triangular index which points to the hour in the wearer’s home time zone, while the larger hour-hand and minute-hand keep track of the time in whichever zone the watch’s owner is presently staying. A nice little feature for the globe trotters amongst us. You can find out more about the Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec range online here.

Halaby Cameo Pins

00O00 Menswear Blog: Halaby Cameo Pins

Marco FunFun and Gilbert Halaby / Credit: Gilbert Halaby

I attended #Firenze4Ever back in June with Luisa Via Roma, and had the chance to meet the very charming Gilbert Halaby, a Lebanese designer based in Italy. Before I had the chance to meet him, I 'met' the cameo pins, where all the staff members had pinned onto their attires. The natural reaction was, "gorgeous pins, where are they from!". Clever marketing tactics aside, I thought it really was a beautiful piece of accessory. How do one spruce up a smart blazer? Add a gorgeous silk pocket square I would. Push the boat out further, and Halaby demonstrated that guys could do subtle bling too. I honestly thought the pin is beautiful. As seen above, it added a different dimension to an otherwise plain t-shirt, and of course Halaby modelled it perfectly himself.

To side track a little: Lady Gaga wore some of his creations for the "Applause" music video. Major much?!

The cameo pin on Halaby himself.

00O00 Menswear Blog: Halaby Cameo Pins

Pardon the stains on the table cloth, yes I'm a messy eater, I'm keeping it real here. Truth to be told: I met him on Saturday and he inspired my styling session on Sunday with the use of several jewelled accessories (Look one, Look two). I couldn't fit in the pin with my looks, but I should credit him with giving me the confidence to give a little bling to my first ever styling session.

Love the cameo pins. You can shop them online exclusively at Luisa Via Roma.
